There is a book that I read when I was a little girl. It was about this girl, little black girl that grew up to be (I think?) a bandit queen, or something of that ilk. Futuristic society, iirc, and the cover was her as an adult with her arms crossed over her chest, holding pistols, and a big black hat with little black balls hanging down from the brim. I cannot remember the girl's name -- may have started with T -- nor can I remember the author's name. I am pretty sure it was written by a black woman, and I want to say her first name starts with N, and was short. Nalo? Maybe? Something like that? If this data is pinging anybody else, HALP, I want to reread that book, and I can't find it if I can't remember its blasted name.

ETA: Solved! I had gotten my hands on an ARC of Nalo Hopkinson's MIDNIGHT ROBBER.
