Depending on your religious beliefs, you could guess that there have been as many female Messiahs/prophets/etc as male, but humankind has failed to notice them.

Heh, I've wondered about that myself. Wouldn't it have been more of an accomplishment for him to have been female? Wouldn't it have been cool for the triune God to have a female side? Just saying...
