I had the best day at my internship today. We got to go behind the scenes at the zebra and giraffe house and as an added surprise we got to feed the giraffes!!! The youngest one (Stella) tried to eat my hat when i ran out of lettuce :).After that we went over to the pachyderm house and we fed our two hippos Una and Cindy. We had gone to the behind the scenes tour of the reptile house but it was nothing like this. All we got to touch in the reptile house was one aldabra tortoise :/. I may be able to intern over the winter in the childrens zoo (if i'm lucky) with raptors, armadillos, and porcupines among other animals. After getting more experience with a broader range of animals i should hopefully be able to get a part time position there and then a full time keeper position later on. I know now for sure that i want to be a zookeeper.
