Eclipse - T It is an act of nature: the sun and moon are drawn to one another like moths to a flame. When they finally touch, there is nothing. No heat, no cold. Just an Eclipse. Sequel: Varedha Complete. More than the Price of Honor M When Prince Zuko captures the Avatar's Waterbender, he knows he can use Katara to lure Aang to his demise. His quest to keep her, though, will give rise to a reluctant hero and set them both on a journey to change the course of destiny. Sparrowkeet M Ba Sing Se has fallen and Katara has been captured. She finds herself on a long journey to the Fire Nation... with only her enemies for company. Post-S2 AU. Dancing in the Dark T AUPWP: Having heard a rumor about two tea servers in the lower tiers of Ba Sing Se, Katara and Toph sneak away go to investigate only to have their suspicions confirmed. Complete. Simple Misunderstandings T Katara was captured by Zuko, but there was a lapse in communication. Takes place after The Fortuneteller. Fierce Katara, honorable Zuko, and meddlesome Iroh. Complete.
And if you don't mind adding Jet into the mix: The Cell - M Put an overprotective waterbender, a fugitive firebender, and deposed rebel captain in the same cell under Lake Laogai and mix well. Complete.
No problem! :) For warning though, the first fic I linked gets quite depressing, but it's still fantastic.
Also, I did some more digging and I founds a few more you might like! They're a little on the AU side of things, but still worth a gander.
House of the Rising Sun T Revenge. It drives her forward, motivates her to pose as the illegitimate child of a Fire Nation noble. But can Katara navigate the web of lies and hatred that is the royal family?
Twist of Fate T Lu Ten survived the Siege of Ba Sing Se, and the Earth Kingdom fell. Iroh rules the Fire Nation, but his reign does not go unquestioned. Meanwhile, a new Avatar is found in the South... and Princess Azula's idea of a prank changes everything. Complete.
Polar Night T In order to arrange a treaty for the long standing war between the Water Tribe and Fire Nation, Prince Zuko is sent to the South Pole to arrange a truce by Fire Lord Lu Ten, where he is greeted by subzero temperatures, sea prunes, and quirky customs. This of course, is a cake walk compared to the revelation he'll be marrying the stubborn spiritual leader, Katara..
It's still, to this day, the best Jetkotara fic I've read. The dynamics of the three of them together is just so amazing (and so well written.) It just sucks that there isn't a lot out there on them. I've actually been trying to write a post series fic with Jet being alive, but I have no idea on how to add him into the Zutara relationship. I thought about going the AU route, but I just dunno where to even begin.
Oh, I feel for you - jetkotara is incredibly rare (and underappreciated) - yet I've never quite gotten my head around some of the art ideas for this trio, so yeah :(
As for the AU route, if I may offer my two cents, have you ever considered perhaps smth akin to adding Jet during the time the post-ATLA comics are set in?
E.g. when Zuko is forced to travel back to Earth Kingdom and settle matters with colonies - I might not catch all the specifics correctly as I dropped that comic (what was it's name even? "The Drift"? D'oh, I truly don't remember) because of the certain pairing being shoved down my throat in the most distasteful fashion.
And if you indeed could create an AU from that (warp the character's personalities to look more like their ATLA selves, not eh... not what we saw) - there's then a possibility of either Zuko visiting Ba Sing Se again, and all of them meeting there you know, on an accident/diplomatic meeting where things suddenly get... interesting *winks*
Lol, just a weird idea ^^; Anyways, I'm very glad to discover the delicious ot3 is to this day loved and inspirational :) Best of luck with your endeavours!!
Hm, that could definitely work, and it would be kinda of canon. Though, I haven't read an ATLA comic book since The Promise (uggggh) and I dunno if I want to again, even for research purposes. Maybe I can find some cliffnotes or something? haha.
But yeah, Zuko visiting Ba Sing Se, probably for a peace treaty or something political, is definitely a good starting point, and of course all the war heroes (Katara, Sokka, Aang, etc) would be there. The problem I have is, how could Jet enter the picture? I don't see him being apart of the meetings. Hm, I'm gonna have to brainstorm some plausible reasons for him to be there. I'll let ya know if I can conjure up something!
oh I'm so happy that the jetkotara is discussed wow I don't think these three are discussed enough definitely from a fanfiction point of view and the general fandom. I really think they work really well as a team character dynamics/background etc I just wish Jet wasn't knocked off the cast :(
So true. I always thought they had such a interesting and unique dynamic between the three of them. Just their backgrounds alone make an insightful discussion and would lead to some impaction character development.
