Participating in a Word War is a great way to motivate yourself to work on your fan fiction and "get 'er done!"; plus, it's a handy tool when participating in challenges and needing a specific word count under your belt.
A Word War is when two or more authors agree to write against the clock for a set period of time. And when the time is up, you share word counts with one another. The goal? Beat your friend(s) and write the most! Of course, everyone's a winner in the end (my mum insists that I'm a winner). Where does a Word War take place, you ask? On chat services such as AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Skype, or Gchat.
How it works:
~ Add your contact information to this post, along with time availability and what IM you use.
~ Pick a friend and set up a time to write.
~ Set a time limit (e.g. 30 minutes) to write . . . and then you write until the time's up.
This post will be used to organise word wars with your friends.
If this post gets lost in the archives, we can always make another WW post. And in case you're wondering why such an idea seems familiar, it's because it was taken from
NaNoWriMo - a tactic used to boost word count.
