The Internet (a Penguins Slash Fic)

The Internet

Authors Notes: this fic is actually dedicated to savvyfan, without whom, this idea wouldn’t have come to me. And my favorite all time Penguins slashfics. This fic also blatantly mentions Savvyfan’s Bite Me, Sidney,  without ever mentioning the name. As well as some other fics by other people that I can’t locate at this moment.

Jordan was staring. Sidney glanced over his shoulder as he pulled on his shoulder pads to check again. Yup, still staring.

“Something I can do for you, Gronk?” He asked calmly as he continued to pull on equipment.

“Have you googled yourself lately?” Not the answer he’d been expecting to be sure. Sidney blinked owlishly at the other man.

“Have I ever…What? No, why?” Jordan just shook his head and went back to getting ready for practice. “No, you don’t just say something like that and not explain it. Why did you ask?” Jordan let out a much put upon sigh and looked up again.

“They have stories. About you and other players. Doing stuff.” The significance of that particular wording was lost on the forward. Sidney frowned.

“With who? What stuff?”

“David Krecji from the Bruins, and you were doing stuff,” Jordan waggled his eyebrows and it all came crashing home. Sidney reared back and nearly landed himself in his locker.

“Eww!” Jordan nodded sympathetically.

“There were all sorts of stories, written by people claiming to be fans, about at least one player from every team in the league with another player. It was pretty scary,” a few feet away Marc-Andre was snickering. Jordan turned on him. “Hey, don’t think they were gentle with you, Flower. Remember Ty? Oh yeah, these fans thought you two were all over each other.”

“You take it too seriously,” Marc-Andre said with a shake of his head. “Fan’s get bored in the off season.”

“So if they got all of us, who’d they have you doing stuff with Jordan?” Asked a curious voice from across the room. Jordan turned a bright flaming red and looked down, muttering something under his breath.

“What was that? I did not hear,” Marc-Andre taunted. Jordan’s head snapped up and he glared.

“Geno…and my brothers,” there was a long, long pause. Sidney and Marc-Andre both twisted around to see Evgeni and his reaction. Either the other forward hadn’t been paying attention or didn’t yet understand the significance of waggling eyebrows and “doing stuff”, because he was happily fighting with a stubborn elbow pad and not giving Jordan the least bit of attention. The silence was broken from a roar of laughter from across the room. Maxime took a moment to get a hold of himself before facing Jordan.

“Here you are dishing out all the bad news and you’ve got the worst of it. So, which brother were you banging? Oh wait, wait, maybe it was the other way around,” Jordan’s left glove went sailing through the air and caught Maxime right in the face. Marc, who Sidney thought was taking this all far too well, shook his head and explained to a startled Evgeni that Maxime had said something rude about Jordan’s brothers and that’s why Jordan was trying to strangle him. Thankfully the coaching staff chose that moment to enter the room.

“Hey! Come on guys, you’re supposed to be adults, try to act like it,” with Jordan pried off of Maxime and far enough away that there was no threat of a repeat attack, the team was herded out of the dressing room and out to practice. On the way out Evgeni caught his skate on something and was only saved from a face plant by Sidney wrapping an arm around the other’s waist. Evgeni babbled something in cheerful Russian, supposedly a very happy thank you, and after giving Sidney a big, brilliant smile, went on his merry way.
Sidney froze, staring after the other man for a moment before shaking himself. The internet was a scary place, and he was never, ever going there again
