Rosemead. I had no idea. Good for Taiwanese Ams to know as well, since I'm sure there's tons of Taiwanese biz owners in that area, especially since the Taiwan Center resides in that city. Just passing the word, so if you know of folks.....
Hey Jen,
Thanks so much for your help! APALA and the LA County Federation of Labor are looking for Vietnamese speaking folks who can help with phone banking in support of John Tran's bid to become Rosemead's first Vietnamese American City Councilmember. Rosemead is home to Los Angeles County's highest concentration of Vietnamese Americans (13%), yet has never had a Vietnamese American City Councilmember. Tran is a Democrat and one of the few voices opposing the construction of a Wal-Mart Superstore in Rosemead, which would drive many Asian American-owned stores out of business and create only low-wage jobs with no benefits.
Until Election Day, phone banks will be held on...
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Saturdays from 10 AM - 2 PM
Sundays from 2 PM - 6 PM
at SEIU United Healthcare Workers (Local 399) in the city of Commerce, located at 5480 Ferguson Ave (cross street is Atlantic).
Automatic dialer phones, parking provided, dinner provided.
Please have folks contact Adelaide Chen at (213) 381-5611 x 26.
Thanks!
Dan
