The Tooth, Vol II

It's now gone.

Well, no. Not gone gone. It's in a little plastic case, sitting atop a piece of blue foam. The point is: the wisdom tooth that was causing me so much pain and discomfort is no longer in my mouth ( Read more... )

Yeah, pretty much. That book is all of my literary wet dreams rolled into one glorious mindgasm. It's so pomo I can't even handle it. Yet, it has a SOUL. Now we have to make Jacquelyn read it.

It's certainly inspired me to stop giving a shit about conventional manuscript formatting, which allows me to easily separate my "chapters".

I'm not yet up to the really messed up formatting, and part of me is fearful of reaching those parts. I have decided, though, that I will be a bit let down if I discover why the word "house" is always written in blue.

I always wonder, periodically, how many months or weeks or days have gone by where I haven't been acutely aware of my teeth.

I appreciate your sympathy. I've been cringing just experiencing all this. ;)

Oh, I'm so glad you got the tooth out, and in such an relatively painless (metaphorically) way!

Remember: no sucking! No straws! Sucking=bad!

I'm going to read that book this Halloween. Last year, I read Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House.

The not-smoking helps significantly. The first wisdom tooth to be pulled (on Christmas Eve no less) was back when I still smoked. I think I dislodged the plug twice (and truly befouled the gauze pads) because of that fiendish addiction.

The longer addiction to coffee, though, is nice and soothing. I get all the warmth to my irritated gums, plus caffeine is a vasoconstrictor to aid in reducing swelling.

Or so I'd like to believe.

Also, I don't know how fast you read, but I like to savor spooky books: I usually begin them in late September, just as the leaves begin to change.

Okay, so you didn't do it yourself...less cool, but hooray for non-impacted wisdom.

I tried.

Unfortunately my needle-nose pliers couldn't get a decent enough grip, but when I wrapped the ends with rubber bands, the head was too big to grab the surface.

Plus Melissa would yell at me whenever I tried.

It's great that he cut you a deal! Teeth suck. I'm going to get rid of mine.
