now that's what I call couponing (or "i need to pay you how much for shopping at Walmart?")

I think I've mentioned Walmart's insanely lenient coupon policy in the past, but I'm not sure if I have since we changed the policy so that it's possible for us to end up owing the customer money. So have a story that really, really had me wondering where the Extreme Couponer camera crew was (and, in case you didn't know, it's a real show on this side of the pond: http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/tv/extreme-couponing ).

I had a customer today who had a $250-odd dollar purchase. By the time I was done scanning her coupons, I ended up owing her $123.28, which I paid to her in cash. (For the record, this confused the shit out of the newbie I was training at the time but is entirely in accordance with Walmart's coupon policy.)

As I was ringing up her and her two fellow couponers (they like to compete to see who can get the most back. she won. the others received $85 and $57 back respectively for their purchases), she explained to me that there are actually web sites where you can buy clipped coupons. That's right. When your local stores decide to get bitchy about internet coupons, you can still cover your bases by ordering coupons from newspapers and magazines off the internet (this is her favorite in case you were curious: http://www.couponsthingsbydede.com/ ). Guess it's time for me to stop relying exclusively on http://www.coupons.com/ and All You magazine (which, if you care, has great recipes in addition to at least $80 worth of coupons an edition), lol. This could save me a considerable amount of fuss every week, lol...

welcome to walmart, work
