just wanted to remind any of my f-listers dealing with the heat wave to stay indoors if possible (light, airy clothes and lots of rest and shade otherwise) and to stay hydrated either way. We've had an "excessive heat warning" for the last couple of days and it's just brutual so I can imagine a lot of you are suffering similarly. Stay cool if you ( Read more... )

Holy crap. I feel for you guys farther north. We're so used to the 105+ temps that, while it makes us miserable, we're at least set up for it. But I can't believe the temps around Chicago.

Best wishes and thoughts.

i know. they said it was the hottest temperatures we've had in this part of Ohio in 15 years. insane. the day i posted this, we sold out of ICE at work.

i just hope this doesn't foretell a(nother) nasty-ass winter

hope you're keeping cool *hugs*

I don't know what it foretells, except some serious thoughts about food prices going through the roof this winter.

My father and my stepmother have farms in southern Ohio and southeastern Kentucky and southwestern Virginia, and in all three places, it was SO wet this spring, they couldn't plant. It's the first time in years they don't have a garden. One of the farms has orchards, and even the trees didn't do well.

And now, of course, the heat. No good produce up there, and we're stuck in a drought down here, with the same results.

Could be a very tough winter for people, I'm afraid.

in Northern Ohio, people eventually did manage to plant but the crops were a joke. the torrential downpours of the last two weeks managed to kill most of what HAD managed to grow, too ... food prices are already being effected so winter's gonna suck for sure

le sigh

Miserable isn't it? Hard to believe most of the country is hotter than Las Vegas (where I used to live).

most miserable. i'd be less inclined to complain if it weren't for the 80-90% humidity we've also been experiencing daily. that's a killer combo, sometimes literally...

you only mentioned winter so you'd have an excuse to use that icon, didn't you? ;p

i'd mind this weather less if we were used to it in this part of the country but, honestly, we're kind of ill-equipped for it and the air quality's been shit lately which kind of sucks for asthmatics like me *complains some more*
