oh, happy(ish) day!

so there i am last night chatting with a friend who says randomly "hey, didn't you bundle online backup with your virus software on Mr Nigel-Murray?"

granted, it wasn't terrible up to date, but i managed to recover a LOT of music and non-replaceable pictures of my family. downside: retrieving this shit is going to take awhile ;p

downside #2: virus software is licensed by computer, not by the length of time you own it so, even though I renewed my subscription on Mr Nigel-Murray a few months ago, I'm going to have to spring for a new copy for Ivy (quickly, since the free demo version expires at the end of the month, lol)

and, as long as I'm posting, short update: I changed my availability at work to 0800 to 2000 every day. No more DVRing my sci fi or missing board game nights at the local game store and, hopefully, I'll be less tired overall not working until 2300 more nights than not (that shit gets old fast once you hit about 25-30).

On the beading front, I am in the middle of a ridiculously complicated project for my grandmother's birthday in five days time. I'm making her a rosary and, man, do I see why some groups of nuns make the bloody things as an act of devotion. I am getting SICK of twisting eye-loops and my hands haven't not hurt for about a week, lol. But it'll be gorgeous. I found these stone beads (just a nicer feel in the hands for prayer beads than plastic, glass, wood, etc) that look very wood-like:

of course, since nothing can be easy, I lost the original center bead for the thing and had to order a new one like three days ago. In order to receive it in time to finish it by Oma's birthday, I needed to shell out boku cash on expedited shipping (the $3 bead ended up setting me back more than $23 -- but i haven't found the right beads within 2 hours of here, so what was a girl to do?). Which will teach me to wait until a week before someone's birthday to finish their piece. Oops :D Also, I am never making another rosary again; they are a royal pain in the... hands

oh, and, if I'd had it on my hard-drive when I uploaded the song meme, this song would probably have bumped Michelle and Sheryl from the list since I grew up listening to Hawai'ian folk music:
