Welcome to the Jungle
by Jim Butcher

A graphic novel from the Dresden Files series. I enjoyed this book it was a fast read but I found it lacking compared to the full novels. I suppose this shouldn't be surprising as there is only so much you can fit in a graphic novel compared to a full length novel but it was enjoyable all the same. There was a fair bit of back story packed in the middle of the book so someone just starting the series wouldn't be left out and I liked the way Butcher spaced the background exposition. I have read most of the published books already and while the background info was a repeat for me it didn't take away from the story at all. It was interesting to see some of my favorite characters illustrated though I prefer using my imagination. I don't read a lot of graphic novels and this art style isn't quite my thing but there were a few things the artist did that I loved. Some of the superimposed images like when Dresden is exploring the idea that the baddie in question could be a troll were really well done. All said good fast read, good introduction to Dresden Files, I recommend this book but prefer the full length novels.
