here are two starts from the film. they're not spotted. and the prints are not done. i want to print at a lower contrast, tone and lightly hand color. don't give me shit for the hand coloring, i already know you don't like it. i do ( Read more... )

nice
i like the second-the details-down to the lines in the apples--but what i really like about #2 is it feels less staged-staged (in a good way)-but..in a way that keeps me from being "settled"..the look on her face-in her eyes-has many layers and levels (at least that is how i respond to it..) also-the various shades of light/dark are rich in a way that give layers ..
what pondhopper wrote above-the first reminding her of a painting of joan of arc-..me too--but not a painting-more-from a film about joan of arc w antonin artaud in it..)
anyway-very cool..

ps...just looking longer at # 2--
i know what i love:
it is ..there is a feeling that well-i feel-of mortality-as well as ..inevitablitity. -and..ofcourse history and all it's significant markers---..but-it is the mortality-the fragility-the cracking of time (or something)-as well as timelessness-that grabs me--
i guess-i just think this is a very strong image...
..
thought i'd say it's the breasts i love !---nah..but-i feel a sort of sensitivity (almost "painful to touch" feel "in" or "by" the breasts..and her sking-hair...so--ok--the breast part is part of the image i like---but..otherwise..great to see nudes when they are not used in glamorous ways-a model may be beautiful: but-man..so much more depth when there is more there than a naked area showing on a man or woman...guess what i am saying: if she wore a dress over her breasts in ther image--it wouldn't nearly have the sensitivity and strength that it has..
ok--enough out of me!

also, i really found your comment about image#2 interesting. the whole thing about mortality and fragility.

but still...i know it was really about the breasts. you can't fool me!! (just kidding, woman)
