For those of you following the RL drama, I'm happy to report that I'm back home (since Thu night) and that my bathroom once more has a floor and other essential parts.
moth2fic and her husband are very hospitable and generous people. My landlord is also mostly great except when he locks the bottom lock on my flat door, the one he never gave me a key for, forcing me and the cats stand in the hallway for 20mins, waiting for him to come and open the door. Sigh.
Then last night my upstairs neighbours invited me for drinks, which was... interesting. But nice. I had many drinks and by the time I made it to bed, world was spinning alarmingly. I'm pretty sure I texted
pushkin666 something about flowers but I have no idea why or what it was about.
Aaaaaaanyway. I have many other things I'd like to ramble at you about, but I kind of feel like it's all boring to anyone who isn't in fact me.
So instead: recs. I also have soooooooooo many things to rec you that I'm going to have to spread them out. Today you'll get the vid recs, fic stuff another day.

Vids Recs
Anything You Like - Primeval, Abby/Connor. Primeval can be louded for giving me one of the few het canon couples in TV that I actually like. No, not like. Adore. Because that's what they and this vid are: adorable. This is fun and flirty, the song choice works surprisingly well, and there are some hilarious jokes with lyris (Connor 'tries a little Freddie', it don't work out *snicker*). Finally, ngl, I'd bang Connor Temple like a church bell in a hurricane. Nnnggh.
How Far We've Come - Primeval, Gen Team. This vid is in the same post as the above one. Oh teeeeeeeeeeeeeeam. I love, love this vid but watching it makes my heart ache (especially the Nick/Stephen scenes - yes, dammit STILL BITTER ABOUT THEM). Epic team goodness; good times, bad times, and all the love and friendship in between.
Extreme Ways - Hawaii Five-0, Danny/Steve. This is different from most of the other H50 vids I've seen. The washed-out effect on the colouring coupled with some interesting clip choices make this feel very... contained somehow, almost claustrophic. Danny and Steve, orbiting around each other, caught in the ugly never-ending fight that is their job. Unsettling.
One Week - Hawaii Five-0, Danny/Steve. Steve has a history of taking of his shirt. Yes, of course. This song was made for this show. And well, every fandom ever, really (check e.g. the
House M.D. vid to it I recced ages ago here). Nel's vids are consistenly awesome and this is no exception. The lyric/clip matching is funny and clever and the vid goes effortlessly between humour and serious moments, just like the song.
One Week - Sherlock, John/Sherlock. Oh look. Here's the same song again, this time used for a different flaily couple of flailiness. Vid captures brilliantly the sheer absurdity of living with Sherlock Holmes and the fond if long-suffering way John deals with that. Also, the vid gets a gold star for the best clips ever for the lyric 'boom anime babes that make me think the wrong thing' - I've seen it like three times now and that bit still makes burst into laughter.
War Drums - Sherlock, John character study. Oh my. Here's another song that happens to have another amazing vid made to it (
recced here) so when I found a Sherlock vid using it, I had to watch. And wow. I am a huge fan of John who is much darker, harder and twisted than he lets the world to see, John who came back from the war changed, and not necessarily for the better. This vid portrays perfectly the kind of unhealthy mutual dependance between him and Sherlock; violent and exhilarating and scary. The ending is brilliant.
Thistle & Weeds - Stargate Atlantis, John character study. John has issues. Many, many issues. Some of those are about how fucking much he needs his team and exactly how far he'll go to keep them. This is an achy, yet oddly hopeful vid that makes my chest feel hollow and too full at the same time. The pace and editing are amazing and the vid just sweeps you along, relentless. There are sections here where the combination of the music, lyrics and the clip absolutely break me.
Sigh No More - Stargate Atlantis, Gen Team. Same vidder, using another song from Mumford and Sons. This vid is life-affirming and uplifting. Like the song says: "the beauty of love as it was made to be". Gorgeous.
Pornstar Dancing - Multi fandom. The vidder summarises it thusly: "Being a thoughtful, sensitive, and nuanced examination of gendered expressions and characterisations of desire. (Also known as: Let's Objectify Men.)" I feel that it is an entirely accurate description. Man flesh. Plenty of it. Bonus points for Domme Morgana putting men on their knees *approves hard*
True Who - Doctor Who. This is a Doctor Who intro credits done in style and to the music of True Blood. It works unexpctedly well, making the show seems pretty darn... sleazy. *g* I'd watch it! Delightful.
Fidelity - Life on Mars, Gene/Sam. Regina Spektor and LoM is an unexpected combination that somehow makes complete sense after you've seen this. Because Sam's emo is both angsty and hilarious, and utterly useless when faced with the force of nature that is Gene Hunt. There is somehing very charming about this vid that endears it to me greatly.
Some Peace - Angel the Series & Buffy the Vampire Slayer, various characters and canon relationships. Absolutely gorgeous look at the personal journeys of some of the key characters in the two shows. The song choice is excellent and there is a palpable feel of sacrifice and grief to the vid. There are no happy endings here, but there is maybe some peace.
Sleepwalker - The OC, Ryan/Seth. I've only seen a few episodes (and several fanvids) of this show, but once upon a time I binged myself on the all the good fic out there (sadly, not nearly enough). Anyway, this video, and Seth and Ryan, break my heart like I gathered the show breaked the hearts of its fans. Angst. Angst, angst, angst. But so, so beautiful. Like with many Fabella's vids there is a dream-like quality to this, with the backflash/memory sections effortlessly overlain with with the sections showing Ryan's bloody and bare-knuckled way of dealing with them. Painful but absolutely mesmerising. The song choice is inspired (love it when fandoms collide) and one of my favourites of Adam's as well.
Home Being Human (UK), ensemble, friendship (canon relationships). Spoilers for the whole series so far, so if you haven't seen the finale yet and don't want to be spoiled then don't watch. And when you do watch... Have a metric ton of tissues ready because this will make you fucking wail. Or at least it made me. Annie, George and Mitchell found a home with each other, if only for a while. A beautiful, heart-breaking/healing/breaking vid. I want so much OT4 fic now.
