Nonsensical Mistletoe
For
renichifreak It wasn’t strange for Youngsaeng to receive text messages from Hyunjoong. Not even when their contents were: ’I decorated for the holidays. Stop over.’ It wasn’t strange for him to obey and arrive at the decorated area. It wasn’t strange for Hyunjoong’s apartment to be dim or even dark when he arrived since they all still kept strange schedules as idols, (he knew the code to the door and could let himself in if Hyunjoong wasn’t home, after all). It wasn’t strange for there to be a note just inside the entryway that read: ‘Youngsaeng walk into the living room, look up’; Hyunjoong would always leave him instructions or notes in that fashion when he wasn’t home. It wasn’t strange to him that when he toed off his shoes and walked into the small apartment it looked as though a Christmas store had thrown up in it; lights and tinsel were everywhere complete with a large decorated tree in the corner. It wasn’t even strange that Hyunjoong had mistletoe hanging from his ceiling.
What was strange was the fact that the mistletoe formed a heart and once he got himself spun the right direction and stretched out on the floor on his back, he discovered there were characters written out beneath it that read: ‘Youngsaeng, I am in love with you.’ Somehow he was certain that their fearless leader didn’t mean the sort of love that band mates shared.
Youngsaeng didn’t know how long he lay there, stretched out on his back with the soft glow from the single night light lighting things just enough to be seen. He studied how it appeared that Hyunjoong had run out of mistletoe half way through his name and settled on using silver tinsel instead, the glittering shimmer a strong counterpart to the mistletoe. He traced over the letters with his eyes, as if they would give him some sort of meaning until he heard the door open. Even then he remained on his back until Hyunjoong’s face filled his vision as the man knelt down beside him.
“You are lying under mistletoe,” Hyunjoong murmured, and anyone else would have found the greeting strange but Youngsaeng was well used to it. “We have to follow tradition.”
Youngsaeng had half a millisecond to wonder at that before Hyunjoong leaned forward and pressed their lips together. Absently he thought he should have seen that one coming, but for all of the nonsensical things their leader did, this one had taken him slightly by surprise.
If it had been a bad kiss, Youngsaeng probably could have laughed and made a joke about it, shrugging off the whole situation and Hyunjoong would have let him, but it wasn’t a bad kiss. The press of his lips wasn’t questioning in any way, Hyunjoong never questioned when he decided on something, but at the same time it wasn’t demanding either. It just was. Youngsaeng couldn’t help but open beneath him, allowing Hyunjoong to do as he pleased, which he did with skill that Youngsaeng had no idea where he had perfected. He didn’t kiss like this in his dramas, or at least the parts that were shown in the final cut.
Then Hyunjoong was pulling away and looking at him, not questioning, worried, or curious, but just simply looking. Youngsaeng felt his breath catch and his mind race ahead to what this could all mean, to their career, to everything, and then he stopped it in its tracks. That was for later or at least a time different than this one.
“We are still under the mistletoe,” Youngsaeng said quietly, reaching up and hooking an arm around Hyunjoong’s neck to pull him forward for another kiss. He caught sight of a smile on the other man’s face, the smile that he wore when he was up to something and it had worked exactly as planned, and Youngsaeng made a mental note to have a chat with him about what did and did not count as a good love confession. Then Hyunjoong’s tongue swept across his lips and he stopped caring about hearts made out of mistletoe all together.
AN: Here is the first of the five holiday drabbles. Hope you liked it dear. I didn't think it would be so busy as it was to finish up and move out of my dorm back home. But I am all settled now, (half cleaned room aside) and getting down to some business. If nothing comes up, I might have a bit of a Christmas present for you all, but for now you can just expect the rest of these drabbles in the next few day. ^_^
