So, we are now officially working on the house. We had a guy come over
tonight after work to look at the floors and will have another one come
by later in the week. I cleaned a whole 3 cupboards before we left.
Progress is slow. Slower than my Baba crossing the road (Love you
Baba!)
We finally ripped out the god aweful red carpet in the main bedroom. I
almost cried. The house was built in the 1950's and has oak floors
throughout. When we saw the house we saw carpet in the hallway and this
ugly blood red bordello carpet in the main bedroom. I saw that there
were hard wood floors so I wanted to let them shine through. Well,
after moving the carpet out we saw stains on the wood. As if someone
spilt a drink or someone's blood in areas and thought "Hey, lets cover
this mess up with this wonderful carpet! No one will ever look below to
see the mess that we created!"
The guy said that most of it should be ok, but the major discolouration
around the windows and walls (Think someone left the windows open and
then sprayed the water hose in just for fun) may not be perfect. Hubby
and I were thinking about it and ya know, we don't want perfect.
Honestly, we don't. We just want something nice and those stains can be
covered up with furniture. It's just a bloody shame that we saw that.
It's aweful that we own it!!!
Tomorrow I'm planning on finishing washing the cupboards and then maybe
start on the bathroom (it's small so that's a blessing.) We found out
today that our stove in there is broken. I put in some salmon steaks
that I picked up on my way there this evening and we had them in there
for about an hour and they were barely warm. Sigh. What else can go
wrong??? Oh shit. I shouldn't say that. Damn I did. I'm going to go
hide under the bed till after Yule. See ya!
