I loved this series so much. I totally binged on it over the weekend and was so happy to find out that there was a special episode! But before watching I'd been hesitant because I saw a few reviews online by viewers who were upset with the ending... and immediately thought oh nooo it's going to be a breakup. But I actually thought the special episode was really well done. It definitely delved deeper into their relationship and made me think that actually, the entire series of Saikou no Rikon was about showing Yuka and Hamasaki how much they actually loved each other. That it took them a divorce to figure out their love. In the SP, it took them an 'almost-marriage' to figure out that marriage needs to be more than just love. I love the last bit so much when he revealed his feelings in his letter. BUT, I think there are tons of signs pointing to the fact that they probably still might get together in the end. ;) After all, he mailed off the letter!! That's a huge hint already (or maybe I'm just being overly optimistic but I do love them as a pair so much) and there was the parallel scenes of her playing ball with a young boy at her family house (let's assume it's a nephew or someone related) which then shifted to Hamasaki picking up a ball dropped by that toddler in the pram. After which, it seemed as if something in him had shifted. And then he mailed the letter. I think it can only mean that his view towards having kids in his life has changed. Truly, he was the one who changed the most out of all the characters in the series. ;) Wouldn't it be amazing if they actually did do an SP #2? Ahhhh. <3
