SOS to computer wizzards ... Drive D is lost .....

Ok, I have a question, a computer question... and I'm not blonde either.... LOL ...
I will start with the facts and what OS I have...

OS - Win 98 SE
40 gig HD that was partitioned into C and D
Power supply fan went and was replaced.
Also, figured that the power supply should be replaced too since it had been running warmer than it should.
Got the wrong Power supply, but the computer guy could make it work in this older PC ... but he had to bypass the regular power button and the turbo button and hook up to just the reset button.
So, now the only way to turn the PC on and off is using the reset button.
Several times when the PC locked up, since I no longer had a reset button, and alt-ctrl-del wasn't going to work I had to just shut the computer off without clicking on the start and going to shutdown.

Also, I have had Nortons put up a message box that says the boot sector has changed and do I want to repair, igore, etc... I clicked repair ... and that might not have been a good thing... because the D drive portion of the partitioned drive disappeared.

So, my question is how do I get the computer to see the D drive again... or at least how do I get to the D drive to copy and drop files and folders off on a CD using the computer CD burner .....

I am trying to get files, folders and programs burned on CD before the computer guy reformats the HD and puts win 98 SE back on ....

Thank you in advance for any help .... :-)
