Chapter 02 |
I wanted some time alone to think, figuring to head off for the ocean not too far away from home. It was nice in the winter time.
The sun was in the process of setting just as I arrived, creating a reflection in the calm water. I found a nice spot on the light sand and snuggled up close inside my hoodie, glad the wind was light today.
All the while I watched the ocean's gentle waves with a blank look to my face, I couldn't help but feel awkward... like I was being watched or something. But who would want to watch me? I figured I was just being paranoid when I nearly jumped at the sound of a soft splash.
...Yeah, because a fish totally wants to stalk me... I thought, annoyed with myself. Though in the back of my mind I knew the uneasy feeling would stay. And it surely grew even more when I noticed a random ripple in the water minutes later, behind a large rock. It was pretty stupid to think something was spying on me in the water - seeing as its temperature was nearly forty degrees and the idea was just plain idiotic - but I couldn't help but stand.
Wiping the sand from my dark jeans, I turned and started to leave. Suddenly there was a loud splash in the water behind me, immediately catching my attention. The moment I turned back around I felt myself stiffen in shock, giving the most stunned expression without my realization.
Sitting there before me, in the shallow part of the freezing cold ocean, was a young man. He looked to be around my age, though it was difficult to tell when he was staring up at me with such an adorably hurt, puppy dog expression. His eyes were big and glossy though one was covered with soaked brown hair, blonde streaks blending within the shoulder-length strands. He appeared pale, though should've held some sort of bluish tent instead because it was just that cold out.
"It's freezing. Why are you out in the water-"
"Please stay."
I stared strangely at his request, wondering what he'd want with me. For a while I stayed where I was, our eyes glued to one another as we attempted to read each other's thoughts. With a certain sadness to his features, I watched as he began to crawl his way completely out of the water and reveal his whole body.
My eyes lit up immediately as he made his way closer to me, the multi-colored scales of his tail glowing beautifully with the help of the setting sun. This was definitely no joke. ...But why did he trust me to reveal himself to?
Well whatever the reason I was too overwhelmed now to think clearly. I was on my knees in seconds, feeling the smooth skin of his cold cheeks, watching as he leaned into my warm touch. He was absolutely stunning. Now that the sadness left his features, he stared up at me with a warm look to his pretty, smiling eyes, and I instantly felt myself smile in return.
He seemed to like being touched. The next thing I knew, I was feeling his gorgeous tail and the soft, transparent fins attached to it. And he watched me with amusement, smiling at my curiosity and giggling every now and then when I touched a sensitive spot. Eventually, my urges were fulfilled and I finally pulled my hands away from the beautiful creature.
A few hours later and we were already sprawled out on the sand. Ruki - we exchanged names by now - watched the full moon above while I watched the glow the moon created on his lower body; I was still amazed. Pulling myself up into a sitting position, I watched him turn his attention towards me, a knowing gleam to his eyes as he sat up as well.
"You're leaving, Reita...?"
I held his saddened gaze with my own, nodding lightly. We both knew we had to part eventually, though...
An understanding look to his features, Ruki suddenly looked away and over towards the sea. I could tell he wasn't very happy with the idea of departing still. I wasn't either. We'd known each other for about four hours now, and it was more than enough for us to realize we were truly growing fond of one another.
I leaned forward and nuzzled into the soft skin of his neck, feeling his arms wrap around me in return. My nosestrap only allowed me to smell so much, but the scent of salt water was strong on the other. It was relaxing. I melted in his arms, feeling fingers stroke soothingly through my black and blonde locks.
"You know I'm coming back tomorrow..." I murmured against his skin. I could almost feel him beaming at my words. Slowly and reluctantly pulling away, I stared down into his smiling eyes - which soon left us sharing a soft kiss.
His back collided with the sand as the kiss deepened, tongues were soon exploring mouths as we continued to grow even more intimate. I could feel Ruki's tail teasingly rub at my crotch, pulling a moan from my lips; he sure wasn't as innocent as he appeared, which was another reason why I adored him.
When our lips finally parted, we laid together for a few more minutes to gain our breaths. I could tell we were both having doubts about our forming relationship - especially when we grew horny during the kiss - but we set those aside for now, not wanting to think about the negatives just yet.
A quick kiss to Ruki's bare chest and I rose to my feet, lifting the other in my arms bridal style. He clung close as I carried him back toward the shore, gently placing him back into the shallow water. His tail disappeared under the surface but his fin casually wavered above it every now and then. Our eyes lingered on one another's for a good while, both of us seeming to want to speak but we chose not to. Ruki leaned in closer for a last kiss before he was off, below the water.
Seconds later, my eyes wandered over toward the large rock from earlier at a sudden ripple. And there was Ruki, pressed against the hard surface and looking as beautiful as ever in the moonlight. With a smile over in my direction he was truly gone this time, beneath the surface.
I missed him already... even if tomorrow was already near.
With a soft sigh I reluctantly turned away from the ocean and headed back home, a small smile constantly lingering on my lips. A merman... This would surely be different.
