Now I feel like I really can give my opinion on the album overall.
This is beautiful. I feel like it took the theatre-esque aspects of AFYCSO and mixed it with the retro stylings of PO, but aged it back significantly. There's a definite Victorian flair apparent, which is really cool. It actually reminds me of the
steampunk haunted house I went to back around Halloween (videos
HERE and
HERE).
What really catches my attention, however, is
THIS interview with Brendon, especially this quote: "Looking through the lyrics, we noticed that some of the motion was pining for something, or some of it was vanity, or some of it touched on subversion or overthrowing of somebody or manipulation." I don't know, but it's a really striking quote. How do you interpret it?
