Day 01- The best movie you saw during the last year

Day 02 - The most underrated movie

I'm not sure if this movie is underrated, per se, but it's certainly under-known. Once, the 2007 movie about two musicians, captures romance in such a beautiful, heartbreakingly real way, and the music is gorgeous. I really wish more people knew about it and ( Read more... )

Once! This is such a great movie. And I was kinda shocked he was supposed to be the lead, but in a way, I'm glad they stuck with Glen.

Exactly! (It was also the first irish film I'd seen.)

And yeah. For two reasons. One, and I mean this in a totally objective way, he's too beautiful (icon totally appropriate <3). Part of why I love this movie is because at the end, I always have to remind myself "that was a movie. That never happened." because they seem like such real people, as if they could be anyone. Their characters don't even have NAMES, which adds to that. If CIllian was cast, I feel like it would have seemed too perfect, too Hollywood. Two, I feel like NO ONE can do those songs justice except for the composers. And this movie is where Glen and Marketa fell in love, so the chemistry seems so authentic (see previous point).

Agh, this movie is one of the few that makes me cry.

Yeah, that's a good point. Adding Cillian would have... Hollywoodized it, I guess? But yes, Glen and Marketa were perfect :)

Once is one of my favourite movies of all time. It's so sweet and sad and believable all at the same time. And of course, the music is just lovely. It needs to be so much more popular than it is! D:

Same. But I'm also slightly terrified that it'll become mainstreamed... Or worse, a Hollywood remake. *gasp* Um, ew. D.N.W.

That would be horrifying if they remade it; however, I doubt they will. They would probably find it far too risky to touch because it's not the kind of mainstream plot that would appeal to the people that go to the movies solely for entertainment purposes. Which is a shame really, because it's such a lovely movie, but I'd rather it go unknown than be butchered. :l
