Since Feb 2012...
Barbara left and life went on. I met Shruthi and Rachel in the kitchen, they taught me a lot about Ayurvedic and Vegan cooking respectively. My last shin dig at RL was helping to prepare the July 4 meal for Rinpoche, I am very lucky to have gotten in on that opportunity.
in August 2012, I left RL for Berkeley to help out at Mangalam centers there. I started working on office work there and transitioned to half time lunch cooking as well. Berk was super fun, I met some great friends there, like Scott T, Joor, Jeff, Dyami. Igot to participate in the Taste and Tribute ceremony and cook with Ann Bergfors for some Mangalam retreats. Overall Berkeley was fun, and progressive too, though that cold climate is a bit too much for my poor tropical body. Anyway 9 months into Berkeley it dawned upon me that I could not stand being in a windowless office any longer. I planned on going to Hawaii but dualistic fear grabbed hold of me and in my confusion I flew to MIA instead.
Now in MIA I am enjoying the heat, tropical fruit, a fun paying job as a vegan cook, and connecting back to my roots with my mom. My days consist of waking up, reading a little, going to work, hanging out with friends, and meditation. I missed a super awesome Ayahuasca ceremony in Peru this year due to fear :( but my interest has been reignited in the role of psychedelics and their relationship to the Buddhist path. I am leaving for Ecuador in a few weeks to see family, hooray!
Life is good overall. My question is what is for the greatest good? Moving to a farm in Hawaii? Staying in Florida, cooking more and channeling funds to psychedelic research?
pros of Hawaii- it's Hawaii, learning about farming. Cons- no pay, less Buddhism access
pros of Miami-it's still tropical, its a good cause, money for psychedic research, Buddhism. Cons- no travel excitement

Happy 24th bday by the way, may your day be filled with delicious fruit and Dharma Amrita.
