"Difficult Times Lay Ahead, Harry"

Before I get into Harry Potter, recap of the morning.

Got woken up at 815. Ready by 835, Atti forgot about me, and arrived at 850. Raced to the high school, where we transferred to other cars. Atti and I went with Andy and his mom and sister. The ride was only like ten minutes long. The field was a football field, a lot like THS, but no major highways around.

No one scored until the last quarter (four twenty minutes, with 5-10 minute break). They scored twice before Sean put one in with three minutes left.

Harry Potter 4 comes out in three months. I get bored, so I'm gonna put up some interesting facts on the movie.

- Like the other three so far, the director is a new one. Mike Newell heads up GoF. He's the only Brit to direct a HP movie, plus he got only $1 million to direct compared to Chris Columbus, who got $10 million and a portion of the gross for making HP1.

- GoF is about 2 1/2 hours long. Warner Brothers originally wanted to produce two movies based on HP4, released a couple months apart. Newell, as the director, made the final call; he'd have the script eliminate many subplots and characters that are listed below.

> The Dursleys won't be appearing at all in HP4, due to the time constraints. None of Mr. Wealsly blowing apart the Dursley's living room.

> Another character removed from HP4 was Molly Weasly.

> Also, Dobby and Winky, the house-elves, are gone, along with Hermionie's S.P.E.W.

> Another loss is Ludo Bagman.

There's probably more, since a 736 page can't really be put into a 2.5 hour movie. They're just not known.

- John Williams (my favorite living composer) is no longer running the music department. He's handing off the conductor's stick to Patrick Doyle. He's composed other movies scores' including Bridget Jones' Diary, Calendar Girls, Secondhand Lions, and the upcoming movie production of Eragon.

- If you don't know by now, Ralph Fiennes is playing Lord Voldy. You might remember him from Schindler's List, and the recent The Constant Gardener

- According to rumors that circulated the Internet, both Rowan Atkinson and John Malkovich were considered for the role of Lord Voldemort. Both rumors were proven to be untrue.

- Rumors on the Internet of a Scottish actor being cast as Viktor Krum were halted when it was announced that, as originally planned by the producers, a Bulgarian would in fact play the part. Perhaps these rumors arose because the Bulgarian was discovered in England and not in Sofia, where there was a casting call for the part of the International Quidditch Champion. Stanislav Ianevski, a Bulgarian student living in London, has been cast in the role.

- During the underwater filming, Daniel Radcliffe, a couple of the cast members, and all of the underwater crew posed for a photo which he later sent out as a Christmas card with Rudolph noses and antlers Photoshopped on everyone's faces.

- All underwater filming involving the teen actors was only allowed 15 seconds per take below surface, reason being strict security rules. Those same scenes were mainly shot in a small tank on sound-stage with a blue-screen background.

- Harry Potter 4 became the first HP movie to be rated beyond PG. The MPAA posted GoF with PG-13 for what they call "sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images." Though I doubt it'll make a difference.

- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is set to become the most expensive movie in history, with a current budget of about $300 million, surpassing the entire LotR trilogy budget by $10 million. Spidey and Titantic top the current budget list.

- On a side note, as a Star Wars freak, I'm interested in connections. You know Warwick Davis (Prof. Flitwick) was in Episode VI. Did you know that all of the HP movies have digital special effects done by Industrial Light & Magic, a merry company owned by George Lucas. (Click the link to see the list of movies ILM has worked on) On another side note on ILM, they were also involved in Rent the movie.

Okay, done here. Going to do something else.
