Ah, but then it gets serious again, but in a misty sort of way. I don't think it's going to be a very long dance; I think they might get a little distracted, and end up back in that warm cocoon of blankets before long. ;-)

The fact that Laura talks about her family, that openness from her, indicates the emotional intimacy between them which is as meaningful as the physical intimacy they have finally shared while that last line of Bill's indicates that he is at least trying to understand the choice she has made about her future - as hard as that is later going to prove to be for him to live with. The extent of the bond between them coming through in every line of this drabble, every line of dialogue between them, the loving, teasing jibes.
