Loyalty...It's Not Just a Word, It's a Way of LIFE

Loyalty is something that I have found to be fleeting in the fandom.

Maybe you find a fledgling fic that you are like its only reader, besides the beta and the authors' mother.  For chapters and chapters you beg all of your friends to read it and wear nothing but a big cardboard sign, saying "the end is near...read this for salvation."  And then suddenly, your dreams come true, and it explodes into popularity.  The fic you've been pimping like its your job gets noticed by important people and you feel left behind.

Maybe people hate the author of a fic that you love but you stand by him or her.  Finally, when it all blows over (because trust, it will), she gets noticed by the important people and you feel left behind.

Maybe you are friends with people, chatting with them and chillin' and you make them feel like they matter so much to you.  Then you get noticed by important people and you leave someone behind.

Some examples?  Sure.

For this, I will deviate from my tried and true example...and will use a different story.  Love Net by Lalina (lalinacullen ).  This is a story written by a wonderful girl and it really is behind me becoming as active as I did on the t'd threads.  I begged that girl to make him go to Starbucks and send an email.  If you've read the story, you know what I am talking about.  Trust me, you want to read this story.  I was so bummed when it was ending, especially since I met so many great ladies on the thread.  But her new story, The Sacrificial Lamb came out.  And I read it...at the beginning.  Before I got busy.  And I will go back and read it, because I know that it is fuckawesome.  But you know what, even though Lalina is popular and had a million other things to do, she remembers me and how ardently I supported LN and still loves me.  That's loyalty.  To her readers.

There is a girl that I love so much.  She writes some of my very favorite stories.  She makes me want to get dirty with boys with exotic piercings.  And she writes a Rosalie and Edward story.  UGH can you imagine?  But I love her and she is a fucking amazing writer. (Yes I am talking about ooohlalaaah ) And even though it kills me because...just no, I read it.  Because I am loyal.  To an author.

My last example...there are several girls who I discuss fic recs with.  With one in particular, secamimom , I find myself trusting her recs without question.  I read something when she tells me to read it.  She says the same thing to me.  We trust each other's judgement, and I would cut the bitch that is mean to her.  If she told me to read a story that I didn't like, would I stop talking to her?  fuck no.  She's my friend.  And I am loyal.  To a person.

What the fuck is my point here?

Don't be a pussy.  Do it Doggy Style:  Stay Loyal, my friends.  Oh, and have some OJ.

loyalty, ramblings
