Michael Bloomberg will probably run for president as an independent. He knows he's too liberal--more so than former NYC Mayor Guiliani--to get the nomination of the Republican Party. And he knows that he couldn't suddenly again be part of the Democratic Party and run for the White House. When he ran for mayor of NYC in 2001, he became a Republican because the Democratic slate was already too crowded with candidates. He spent millions of dollars on TV and radio commercials, mailing pieces, and posters all over the city. Bloomberg is a mulitbillionare. It's conceivable that he could buy the White House for himself with his own cash spent on relentless advertising.
