For me, it isn't a reference to an 80s horror movie franchise. It isn't even a quasi-scholarly reference to the Knights Templar. I was born on a Friday the 13th (although in October, not July), and they've always been my happiest birthdays.
So Happy Friday the 13th everyone!
Tomorrow is the first Ferrari family reunion in probably 30 years. All the cousins I haven't seen since I was a pre-teen will be there. And all my closest cousins who I don't see often though they live an hour away. It'll be nice. I'm sure it's going to feel like a going away party. I've connected with some of my cousins on Facebook recently. And while I'm a little horrified at some of the stuff they post, it's nice to be in touch. We used to be so close as kids. We spent our summers in each others' pools. But now we don't even send Christmas cards and most of us are close enough we could have Sunday brunch together. Ah well.
(And for those who are asking, yes, my grandmother's maiden name really was Ferrari. No relation to Enzo. It means "ironworker" in Italian. It's kinda like being "Smith" in English. But my cousins do tend to buy yellow T-shirts with little black rearing horseys on them with amazing regularity. I've always wished I was born with that surname.)
Sunday is Bob's family reunion. It's only an hour further West, so we're going to go for a few hours. And then maybe my mother-in-law will stop bugging us for a while. I'll take the dogs and spend my time answering questions about Preston's missing leg and tail and retired racers and avoid listening to my MIL drone about her various ailments and not give a damn about anyone else. Did I say that out loud? *smirk* (Don't worry. She only stalks me on Facebook.)
Maybe Monday I'll have the McGann family reunion. Or maybe I'll have it right now! *pauses* Yep. That does it. Hard to have a reunion when you're the only McGann left. ;)
Anyway, now I'm being silly. Today is garbage day so again we play the game of how much stuff can we drag to the curb for the garbage truck before they decide we're giving them too much and they just won't haul it all away.
We took the opportunity of the movers coming to organize the inventory for Pennsic so that's all done weeks ahead of schedule. Yay! The books are looking pretty orderly and they are continuing to sell on Amazon. Despite one bad apple, I've had lot of good customer interactions and great ratings (4.9 stars!). So if you're looking for a book, check out Uncle Barney's bounty:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html?ie=UTF8&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&me=A3FRJ2BYQRTRZP The Dutch Broadsheet with the Landsknecht-looking characters on it is still for sale as are many other piece of history at our ABE books site:

http://store.reconstructinghistory.com/sale.html In other news, I only walked once this week, but I've been doing a ton of running up and down stairs with boxes. So I haven't been sedentary. And I've been strictly grain-free for five days and doing fine.
Well, that's quite enough blithering for a Friday. Gotta get busy!
