For Sale: Calling all Landsknechten!

I have a very special item for sale that will be of interest to 16th century Holy Roman Empire reenactors and possibly early 18th century collectors as well.

The gentleman who appraised this piece wrote of it:

"A Dutch broadside on the South Sea Bubble, likening the fate of the careless and impovrished speculators to the old story of Sorghelos and his experiences with gambling. The central woodcut is probably a version of one issued by Cornelis-Anthonisz around 1540. It shows an interior with a table, on its top are dice, cards, and money. The table is surrounded by one woman and five men. In the background, a window gives a view of two men gambling and a couple apparently fighting. With letterpress title, inscriptions, and verses in five columns. The broadside itself dates from around 1720 but the pictorial block may have been an old one (circa 1530s or 40s). Some loss at edges. A scarce and appealing copy."

I'm asking $2000 for it on ABE books (Bookseller Inventory #ABE-8027752960), but I am willing to be flexible with the price for my Landsknecht friends.

I hate to let it go, but the salt air will not be kind to it and I wouldn't want to lose it to the damp.

Please email me directly at historian@reconstructinghistory.com to discuss.
