Bob's been gone one full week as of this morning. And he'll get back sometime next Saturday. So I have one more week to get the house straighted out like I want it.
Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I was trying to decide whether Financial Friday needed a rant about the Stock Market or European Financial Markets or a history of income taxes. But I spent much of Thursday night "on call" for a customer on the other side of the planet. And between taking calls and waking up because I imagine I heard the phone, I didn't get much sleep. So I acted like a greyhound and dozed all day. =)
The clothes haven't gone to Goowill yet, of course. Today I'm going to go through the pile in the hall and count how many suits, dresses, pants, sweaters, etc. They're open until 9pm tonite or I can go tomorrow until 5pm I think. Before Monday, that pile will be gone.
No boxes of books came inside yesterday, but today I'll resume that task. My goal is to move ten of them from the summer kitchen into the guest bedroom.
I'm thinking about having some work clothing made up, but I need a reference. Anyone have any favourite online catalogs of women's suits?
More later...
Update at 8:18 am -- I'm about halfway through the clothing counting. I better keep going or I'm gonna quit. It's sticky hot in that hallway when you're standing still.
Update at 9:06 am -- Well, it's all in the car. All I have to do is drive. And I have until 9pm to do that. Right now, I'm soaking wet and hardly can hold my hands steady enough to type this. But I moved 33 sweaters, 31 dresses, 16 suits, 17 tops, 40 skirts, 31 pairs of pants, 7 pairs of jean shorts, 16 pairs of jeans, 7 coats, and a whole under-bed bag of dance/workout wear. I feel like that old Navy slogan: "We do more before breakfast than most people do all day." I wish all my days could feel so productive.
I also moved two boxes of books, but I think I'm going to give myself a few hours of physical rest now. I'm spent!
Update at 9:44 am -- Moved four boxes of books. Took three of four dogs out again. Now I think I can relax for a while.
Update at 11:09 am -- Three-legged dog aws whiney and I don't like to ignore whiney (except from Fred who whines just to hear the sound of his own voice). So I took Preston out again. And I brough five boxes in and took them all upstairs and stacked them.
Now I am sweaty and gross and hot and tired again. And I am not pleased because it seems no one put greyhound nap time on the schedule today so they are taking turns annoying me. I should take them all out to the park to run for 30 seconds so they'll all be unconscious for the rest of the afternoon. But that will mean taking all the clothes out of the Scion again. And, you know, leaving the house, which is not something I'm inclined to do right now.
If I leave the house today, it's going to be for food. A drive-thru. I don't want to get out of the car either.
I think I may have to go look at pretty pictures of clothing from the 1930s to cheer myself up.
