Our smiling spotted dog is doing incredibly well this afternoon. His fever is gone and he is resting comfortably. I just heard from the greyhound group's Foster Coordinator that the surgeon thinks it is an infection in his leg, not a tumor. He has also decided that it is in Preston's best interest to save his leg! Yay!
Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. At that time, they will remove the plate that's holding his bones together. So it's going to be another few months of weekly bandage changes at the vet and watching him carefully so he doesn't eat off his cast. Luckily, we have just finished our busy event season and we will have most of our weekends at home through January. So this is incredibly good timing for us. We can enjoy the autumn with Preston and his colourful cast and coordinating muzzle and E-collar. I should make this dog a ruff!
I want you all to know that when I gave our Foster Coordinator an idea of our total contributions today, she cried. You big softies! She has no idea the power of the Kass Army to do good!
(Really. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all. Even if all you did was think good thoughts, those thoughts are clearly working. Thank you for any dollar you could spare. Thank you for thinking of this kind and gentle animal. You people put back my faith in humanity.)
