- re:
this FM+ cutscene translation:
...okay so.
Zexion: [...] I just want us to have a little fun talk about, say, Xemnas' secret. How many years ago was it? People with the blade of keys started to appear and fought great battles. When they were gone, a man who had lost his memories appeared. Xemnas... no... Xehanort was taken in by Ansem around that time, was he not?
Okay, I can't find the original source for this translation (possibly because I'm not a forum member at KHU), but that? Yeah, at this point I would put money on the secret ending being in the past. Also given the Zexion-alike blue-haired... androgyne? I'm wondering if Ienzo might not have more to do with Xehanort's secret history than being a fellow apprentice.
- re: implied canon relationships in KH1/2, retarded symbolism, and ot3:
I just watched the ending cutscene again and was struck by something. KH1 has a Sora/Kairi focus, setting it up versus Riku/Kairi; KH2 takes the Sora/Kairi a step further in terms of relationships, but at the same time the Sora/Riku is much more the focus of the game.
And then the ending, with the message in a bottle and the door to the light. And - really, the only explanation I can come up with for that is that it's Kairi's heart. She's the Princess, after all, and if they can open the door to darkness then light should be easy for them. I assume she was reacting to Sora, anyway - triggered by the reaction of his heart (and oh hey, Roxas has light powers...) to the letter, or whatever. But yeah, it's pretty easy to see the door as a manifestation of Kairi's heart.
Yeah, I just wanted to point out that Sora and Riku going through together is hitting all my OT3 buttons. And so's the part where Sora said it - "we'll go together", almost like a reassurance.
