This is to inform Melissa:
To speak of espresso adventures mentioned earlier, the first and third shots that we had pulled were from a
La Marzocco.
The shots had a really awesome dark chocolate covered cherry taste to them. More like 92% cocoa chocolate, where the only thing you taste is the cocoa and not sweetness. However, there was the added fact of the bitterness that you will always encounter with espresso.
On to the second shot. It was pulled with the
Slayer which is probably the most outstanding shot of espresso I have ever tasted or would hope to taste. It was similar to the latter and former shots in the fact that it tasted of dark chocolate covered cherries. However, it brought something else to the table. While taking away bitterness, it also added a nice, syrupy texture and a little bit more crema. It was simply a much more pleasurable shot. A good way I've found to describe normal shots from Stumptown or similar establishments is the burning sweetness that you will have at the back of your throat. It's only comparable to if you have ever eaten a handful of raisins. The Slayer shot did not have this. It was just smooth all the way through. But, I am tired and need to go to sleep. Good night.
