One Light

Today is my mother's birthday.

Kimi Young died this morning. She contracted swine flu about a week ago, was life-flighted from Oxford to Cincinnati last night, and died of complications early this morning.

The weather in Denver has been horrible the past three days. It snowed yesterday. I missed the snow, but it rained most of the rest of the day after I woke up, and it's been cold. It's been very cold and the chill seeps through the front door and the old windows and the hard wood floors are cold and the cats both try to get into the bathroom when we're taking showers and steaming up the room.

I got an e-mail from Grandma Connie today, warning me about H1N1; advising me to take all the serious precautions. She and Mom are driving to Delaware this week for the Little Brown Jug races, and then they're going to see Matt in Mt. Adams. They're planning on going back up to the Buckeye-Illini game on Saturday.
It looks like the Colorado constituency may caravan back to Oxford for the weekend. Until then, everyone's taking deep breaths.

Kimi was awesome. She was an awesome person.
