Today was a bad day, no way to avoid it. It sucked. I woke up early, went in to work for almost two hours, then was told to go home for a while, then come back in the afternoon. So that's what I did, and it sucked.
It rained when I went home for the middle of the day.
We got slammed for the entire evening as soon as I got back for the dinner shift.
But we weathered it--to speak of the blue collar meddle of a chef.
Except our boss was a dick at the end of the night because we didn't have a specific ingredient included in the sandwich-that-he-ordered-an-hour-after-we-stopped-taking-orders-for-employee-meals.
So this was what we did:
Terrance, the executive chef, bought me a beer.
I sent him home early and closed our side of the kitchen myself. Then I mopped the side of the kitchen that the girls usually do.
Then I hung out late and shared some jokes with the Moldovans.
Then the bosses' son and I drove out to the foot of Shadow Mountain and got high.
And that's how we made a bad day into a good day.
kitchen experience,
best day ever,
god bless the working stiff!
