I'm supposed to head up to Grand Lake today, but the smart money says my car's battery will slink off and die just as I turn the key for the trip, and I'll have to buy a new battery, and that will keep me in the city till tomorrow.
Funny thing is: That's what I hope happens.
I want a city to love. I think Denver can be that.
Our server last night at City-o-City was so pretty, but she told me she lives with her boyfriend, that it's kind of serious. She smiled real big though, and said she was flattered, and I believed her. The McLaughlin Girls gave me a chorus of "Aw's," and I rode shotgun back to LaFayette, and we listened to surf rock at 11, because, as they said, "I deserved it." And whether or not that's so is in the air, but it was a beautiful night to sit in the courtyard and catch up with Geesp. Cool Colorado air and stars. Late night poetry recitals, and no sign of the lamia on night three.
Two months ago, I was in hell. Now I'm in the mountains.
