This black and white bullshit does not matter. It isn't real. It's a distraction thrown at you to get your mind off what matters, so that people can get away with bullshitting you longer and longer.
We are awesome. We are fucking awesome. We are smarter than generations before us were when they were this age. We know what we need to do--what kind of a world we've envisioned we could have. We all grew up in an age of Pizza Huts telling us how picking up garbage at the park would make us feel better about our world because it got us involved in our world... with something at stake in it. And we do. We have something at stake in it. We have our dreams at stake in it. We have our visions of what the future can be like at stake in it. Our hopes and our trust and our love.
We grew up with Weekly Reader packages telling us how the next President of the United States--Bill Clinton--was going to build a bridge to the 21st Century, and the world was taking a huge step forward. We grew up in the age when the internet was going to change the way people communicated and learned because it was going to open up a dimension in time, almost, where all the information in the world was at our fingertips.
We are such a diverse and smart and amazing species. We have so much to be pumped about. We have so much going on for us. Captain Planet and the Planeteers. It wasn't all about environmentalism, guys... "Heart!" fucking mattered the most. We can change the way the world sees itself, and can start becoming optimistic about the future, again.
This is absolutely the most exciting time to be alive. And you're a part of it. Make the most of it, you know.
