In Contention

Today began like most cloudy Tuesdays--with Matt and I both unsure if we'd make it to the bus-stop on time for our eight o'clock. We made it, which was sort of a mixed thing, because it got us to class, but they didn't take attendance today and I sort of stayed up late last night for no reason other than I'm used to it now after five days out of town. On the ride home I nodded off to "Tainted Love" and woke up past my stop... but that wasn't such a big deal.

As it turned out, from there on, today got much and much better. To almost astronomical levels, given the fact that I'm in Oxford, Ohio, and nothing that exciting could happen, so anything good is just below "New X-Mas good" levels.

It starts with a long and fucking hot shower.
After the shower, a nice breakfast. And then I joined DailyKos, activating a profile.
That was followed by some light hearted music at the bus-stop.
Then there was the huge fucking A that I got on my Romantics' paper.
...And that means that I don't have to take the final at 7:30AM on Friday!
Then after that I was kind of sobered up by the realization that my Shakes prof would probably be returning essays from two Thursdays ago, and I was sure I had bombed.
But I got an A-, instead of the presumed C-, so it looks like that inevitable C for the class is back up to a B+ or a possible A-.
And then it started to rain after Shakes, but it didn't really bother me at all because I was so happy. And I thought that after all that had happened today concerning grades, the only thing that could make me happier would be to come home and find a package on the doorstep from Express, with my jacket in it.
And then when I got home I saw that there was a package, and it was my jacket, and it fits. (And it's also warm as hell.)
And then I thought to myself, "Ok, aside from the fact that tonight's a burrito night and tomorrow's a wash concerning anything academic, the only thing that could make today any better would be to find out that John Edwards has formally entered the race for '08."
And then I checked my e-mail, and holy shit!--there's an e-mail from John Edwards.
...But it was about Sudan, not necessarily his formal declaration.
...But that doesn't take away from the craziness of it.

November 2006 is on the mark to surpass the lengthy shadow cast by last year's November, and by default, the amazing November from the year before.
Very nice.

Also, a couple good news items:
First--"Christian Coalition puts words in Jesus' mouth; said to care more about gays and fetal health than poverty"
Second--"Borat wins Pamela in the end; Kid Rock a total douche"

william wordsworth, best day ever, burrito night
