Twilight

I watched the movie. It's nothing you'd go out of your way to see... it's not that bad but the bad parts do stand out like a sore thumb. Of course, this movie is targeted at 16 year old girls and not 25 year old males.

imo, the big problem with the first half of Twilight is the slow pacing filled with awkward teen angst. Normally, the two would complement each other but, in this case, the awkwardness is so hammed up that it quickly becomes frustrating. There is only so much you can take before you start throwing things at the screen.

Then you get to the infamous sparkly vampires scene. It is every bit as hilarious as you may imagine. I mean, I thought it would just be blown out highlights or something like that... but, no, SPARKLE.

After that, the movie pretty much turns into an action flick. The three vampires who have been murdering the locals come to the fore and James begins a hunt to kill Bella because, well, he can. Since when does a superhuman killing machine need a reason to do anything?

In the climax of the movie, James beats the snot out of Bella. Of course, Bella is flagged as plot essential, so she can't die, but ouch. On the other hand, by this point in the movie, you may actually be cheering for James to kill her.

And then the movie reaches its sappy end, with Bella, her leg in a brace, going to school prom with Edward where they dance and share a kiss.
