Ame's Nuclear Printing Press, and other stories.

FOUR entries in the entirety of September! I really don't know how to livejournal anymore, do I?!

So. NYAF happened! It was a con of ups and downs, but the ups greatly outnumbered and outweighed the downs!

Friday night, __kaze__, kittyling, sugar_and_synth and I managed to head out from MA to NYC around... midnight. Getting us into victims' house around 3:30am, when we were sleepily greeted by wonderful new friends obtains, youngavenger, albel, raepface and carnivorous!

Saturday morning was spent full of D8 when we thought __kaze__ had brought his car keys to the con (an hour away) with my+Ame's cosplay shoes in the trunk of his car. BUT Vishal is the bestest dude and actually did not do that hooray. We got to the con and hunkered down in the bathroom to get on our costumes for scootkadoot's Kuroshitsuji circus group.

In our time in the bathroom, we had a handful of surprise visitors. AKB48 members. In the convention center bathrooms. I turned bright red and Ame and I quietly freaked out while half in cosplay. We gave them really enthusiastic smiles and nods in hopes we could convey the fact that we actually knew who they were (unlike everybody else in the bathroom who didn't seem to even realize they were guests) and... bflfblfbflbf OH GOD THEY WERE SO CUTE. At one point we were blocking the sinks and one of the girls (oh god I wish I knew everybody's name) was really politely waiting and I was like "ああ!すみません、どうぞ!" and she was really surprised and was like "ありがとうございます! Thank you!" and I absolutely died oh god I am the biggest weeaboo.

Later on, other girls both in and out of the bathroom saw me and Ame in our Peter and Wendy costumes and kawaii'd us and we were like FBLFBFSKLFHKSLJG NO, WHAT, IT IS YOU GUYS WHO ARE KAWAII oh my god we have the worst idol complexes, I cannot even around these girls abglkbrljalgnrklg. ♥♥♥

We were pretty much on Cloud 9 after our AKB48 encounters so we were already in fantastic moods when we finally finished getting ready! The group was so, so, so much fun and everybody looked amazing. ♥ I haven't had that much fun in a cosplay group in a really long time, I'm so glad we got to be a part of it!

Towards the evening, Ame and I changed out of Peter & Wendy in hopes of changing into Haruko & Naota. Buttt we found, while in the bathroom changing, that we'd managed not to pack Ame's Naota shorts. Which sucked and made us really sad babies. So we ended up trekking to Port Authority to look for brown pants, acquiring these hideous purple-brown sweatpants that we intended to cut into shorts, and heading back to the con where we only spent a bit of time before heading to catwithoutagun's hotel room where we played the Horror Game which is ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING ;; A;; We learned that Ame and I are weenies and would sooner die than split up from each other, but as long as we have albel or obtains on our side to be GAR, we'll be okay.

However, while in the room, my nose started pouring as though I was Allergic to Anime... and I slept terribly all Saturday night because I kept waking up sneezing or with my face pouring off. @_@

Sooo on Sunday when we had intended to try AGAIN to wear FLCL stuff, I was like "oh god f this I feel horrific" and we decided to skip it. But I felt better when seeing lovely bbs at the con anyway. ♥

We didn't spend long at the con on Sunday, but a chunk of it was spent repairing some serious shit with a particular someone and basically hugging it out, which I'm ridiculously glad for. It felt good to be able to make the truth about a situation known, but I'm dreading what I'm going to have to do about that situation in the future. LOLOL CRYPTIC but whatever, I really admire the maturity necessary to initiate the conversation we had and I'm so glad to have things cleared up. I think we're both in better positions to be friends now.

...........tl;dr Cole and I are okay again.

After hug-outs, Ame and I cabbed it over to Webster Hall for FBLFBLFBFBLF AKB48 CONCERT. We were handed a glowstick and a little handkerchief with AKB48 written on it when we walked through the doors, and I feel that was a very good sign of things to come.

The concert was... absolutely incredible. We went in as very, very new and pretty casual fans, and we left completely smitten with these girls. Their stage performance was wonderful, and every single one of them was so happy to be there and giving it their all. We picked out a couple of new faces from the very first song (I noticed Akimoto Sayaka first, Ame noticed Miyazawa Sae first, and we both fell in love with both of them by the end of the concert... we also fell harder for Itano Tomomi, a tiny girl with the cutest :3 face ever who was one of the girls we met in the bathroom ♥) and it was just... wonderful.

We started pretty close to the stage, but partway through moved to the very right-most corner. We had to look over a bouncer's shoulder, but we were still visible enough to catch a few of the girls' eyes. We sent them giant smiles and lots of heart-hands (which were returned by one girl! GUUUUU ♥) and we definitely stood out as two tiny white girls pumping glowsticks and joining in with the hardcore Japanese fandudes (wota) doing chants during the songs. We stood next to a particularly intense wota who knew every chant ever. We weren't sure if he'd mind us joining in with him, but by the end of the show when turned around, he and his friend were as full of smiles as we were so I "たのしかった!"'d them and they "たのしかった!"'d us back. ; w; He chatted with us a little, and asked us who our favorite member was... we told him Mariko, who wasn't actually there, and he told us she was his favorite too, and he brought a gift for other Mariko fans. He pulled out a folder and handed us each a photo with Mariko in it! ;; w;; Ohhhh my god we died, what are the odds he'd have the same favorite girl?! (1 in 66, actually.) Another photographer dude behind us heard us talking a bit in Japanese and started chatting with us too, asking us where we were from and if we knew AKB48 and stuff like that. We told him we like idol groups a lot, like Morning Musume, etc. Practicing Japanese with wotas = pretty ace.

Anyway yeah, idk, these girls. So cute. Some: retarded hot ksfllksghls Sayaka who is half Filipino and has really good English and is 100% unbearably attractive. The group got TWO encores (I don't think they even DO encores at their theater in Japan, so imagine how exciting it must have been for them!) and by the end of the first one, Sayaka was literally BOUNDING across the stage absolutely exploding with energy. ♥ Meanwhile Sae was, all three times, the last girl to stop waving to everybody and leave the stage. XD Honestly, nothing makes me happier than the thought of how much fun these girls had performing for us. That is what I wish, above everything else. ♥

After the show was over, we waited for kittyling to cab over to Webster Hall to meet us... which means we got to loiter outside the theater with a bunch of other fans, and see the girls come out to take pictures in front of the theater. Security tried to clear everybody away and... well, it mostly worked. Eventually Lauren joined us and we waited for Vishal to come pick us up... in the mean time, we waited with the most hardcore fans for the girls to ACTUALLY leave the theater. They were all smiles and waving to everybody as they got on their bus, and a couple girls got back off the bus to have their picture taken on their cellphones with the crowd of us behind them. :D Once everyone was on the bus, there was a brief moment where the lights on the bus went on and shrieks erupted from across the street... revealing which side of the bus the girls were on. So we ran over to the other side of the street, and as the bus pulled away, we were all outside smiling and waving and taking pictures of them and they were all inside smiling and waving and taking pictures of us. ♥♥♥ Flawless conclusion to the evening.

I swear, the best concerts of my life have been because of anime conventions. L'arc in 2005, AnCafe in 2008, HANGRY&ANGRY in 2009 and now this. I've been to damn good non-Japanese concerts too, but there's something so incredibly thrilling about international guests, I think. Their energy level is always through the roof, even if they're just performing for terrible anime fans. American audiences are so different from Japanese audiences, and I think that must be incredibly exciting for them. AAH I've thought too much about this.

Anyway, I put WAY more of myself physically into that concert based on how sick I was, so by the time Vishal picked us up I was feeling pretty terrible and we were all exhausted. We were on the West Side Highway when I was like "man, if we made a left at the George Washing Bridge, we could just stay at my house for the night. ....wait a minute." And so, we did. Instead of driving all the way back to MA, we crashed at my place in NJ and there was pizza and Momhugs and comfy beds in lieu of 3.5 hours of driving. And it was wonderful.

And on Monday we got up at asscrack o'clock and laughed until I was actually uncontrollably sobbing over breakfast. Drove back up to MA, where I spent half the day in health services only to find that it's just a really bad cold and the rest of the day on my ass. The end.

In conclusion, HAVE SUM PICTURES even though I did not take very many at all.

INCREDIBLE CIRCUS GROUP everyone looks so amazing even if my neck decided it didn't want to be part of this costume photo credit to the wonderful thedreamerworld.

idk if you can tell, but the tall, strong-looking one with the long hair who goes off to the far right is our new love, Sayaka. ♥

Hoooooo (ahhhh tired Mario noise laughing foreverrrr) that took longer than I meant for it to! Ame and I have both been demolished by this cold (welcome to the Snifflepartment) so sleep is necessary like, right now. Tomorrow I have about a million tons of catch-up work to do. Ugh god it is too early in the semester to be this overwhelmed.

I've made a ton of new friends recently, through friending memes and in person, so I think I'm going to try to do a bit of an introductory post tomorrow! ♥ For now goodniiiight~
