Can we talk about how I have felt like complete butt today? I forgot to finish up my tonsilitis antibiotics because I felt so much better by the time I got back from Georgia, and what do you know. It seems to be back with a vengeance, and has teamed up with my period and migraine-prone brains for a really awesome day! Yuck. Moral of the story: FINISH YOUR ANTIBIOTICS. Seriously.
Can we talk about how I really like anime again? Yeah. So. Fuck your Chode Gayasses, your Reboners, your Breaches... 1988's Gunbuster is the best fucking anime I've watched in a long time, very closely followed by the 2004 sequel Diebuster, which is basically the original Gunbuster meets FLCL. Holy christ, these shows. Gunbuster on the left, Diebuster on the right. Basically I've realized that I have a really big issue with:
- inspirational against-all-odds adolescence-metaphor'd earth-saving AIM FOR THE TOP/PIERCE THE HEAVENS WITH YOUR DRILL/SWING THE BAT series (basically, everything GAINAX ever)
- really adorable giant robots
- girls that pilot said adorable giant robots and are kickass as fuck
- said girls that have really cute Onee-sama complexes
- Onee-sama complexes with lebbie undertones.
God I love it. And oh my GOD I am so fucking excited to cosplay from these series, but I'm keeping that quiet for now. But OH GOD it's going to be so good. ♥
And in the past couple of days, I've realized this summer is going to be really good and is probably going to be spent watching a lot of animu with friends. Next up are Abenobashi and Evangelion (because GAINAX owns my boner), and later on I look forward to reminiscing over my middle school VHSes and the like.
Speaking of that business, this stupid site has made me so happy by helping me find a handful of anime songs I've been looking for since like, middle school. ;__; Music from Mahoromatic, Bubblegum Crisis 2040, Geobreeders and oh my GOD the opening to Knights of Ramune that I've been searching for for years. "Yamato mihoshi and a sushi and a BABY!" was totally one of our best middle school inside jokes. Now I'm just searching for the Tenchi in Tokyo ending and the Geobreeders ending. And then my inner 12-year-old anime fan will be completely satisfied.
Shit, I want to go back and rewatch like every old anime tape and DVD I own. The old shit was SO GOOD. Also so psyched for cosplays, jesus.
Can we talk about how I'm unnecessarily stressed right now? As good as this summer is going to be, right now I'm really stressing about actually getting summer plans in order. Possible July visits, Disney complications, Otakon hotel shittery, lol Dragon*Con wtf i dunno lol... I know I'll be able to relax once I get shit cleared up but it's all over my head right now and I'm a little worried. Oy vey.
Can we talk about how a very drunken smallbluerobot just showed up on my front lawn? Like a half hour ago Mark texts me with "come outside" and I find that he's wandered over from next door where Sam Whatshisname was having a party. Oh, you.
Tomorrow I'm going to take it easy, get some stuff done around here.. maaaybe do the Dykemarch in the city on Saturday if I feel up to it, but definitely NYC Pride on Sunday! Neat. Life is neat.
