So the most obvious change to LJ, at least from my perspective, is that the fee for paid accounts went from ~$12/year to $20. So now I get ads instead. Maybe I should get off my butt and get a blog on my own server ...

It's been $20 for at least two years now I think. When I renewed last May I paid $20, I know that for sure. You can (or could, haven't checked if it still appplies) get it for $15 if you allowed auto-renew on your CC.

That must have been it - this auto-renew was $20 where it's been less in the past.
