work rant?

I've certainly been lax recently about writing much. That's probably because I don't really get on my home computer for much anymore except games and specific tasks (pay bills, ... um, that's it?). And recently work has actually been full, over-full at times. However, this week I finally released for testing a project and set aside the week to work with the users on bugs and feature requests.

Unfortunately, the users apparently think it's too much trouble to test or give feedback. Which will probably mean that we'll follow the usual path of nothing happening until the deadline I gave them followed by them starting on that date. Maybe I shouldn't have given them a reasonable deadline, but an arbitrary one of the day after I told them they needed to test.

Instead, this time I pulled in my boss and let him know what was going on. As he has me slated for 400 hours of non-production support projects through February 1, there's some incentive for him to get the user to respond or find someone else to respond.

I'm not really sure why I'm writing this except that it's in my head and, for the first time since mid-2006 I don't have immediate work that I have to dig into. Maybe I'll find some SQL to tune ... I wish I could be working on my current project's bugs, but everything looks like it works correctly to me!
