Through the long dark (raining) night

The holiday season is over, though we're still in the 12 days of Christmas phase. Christmas was just fantastic. I went with Rachel down to California to spend about a week with my families. Things basically just went smoothly and well. I think I may have helped everyone by putting together the skeleton of a schedule of our (Rachel and I) events to send to everyone. It let me allocate specific time to requested events. It certainly made me feel better at knowing what was going on!

I had a fabulous time with Rachel and my family. Good to be able to not have work responsibilities hanging over my head. The day before we left for CA, I spent the entire day with a contractor we brought in trying to give him a knowledge dump of the application that we need him to build. Made for a stressful last day.

All in all, we had a great time in California. Great to see people, great to exchange presents, great to rock out with friends to Guitar Hero and Trivial Pursuit. (Who cares that it takes 4 hours to hard boil an ostrich egg, anyway?)

Rachel got to meet some more friends from high school, too, including the Great Samay! We had fun at a bar in Palo Alto (that my step-dad had gone to twenty years ago) called the Rose and Crown. More trivia, though this was much more difficult.

It was hard again not having my brother there. He's off touring Vietnam, though, and having a great time I'm sure.

Now it's back to the usual work, play, socializing, and games. Final Fantasy XII is incredible fun. Company of Heroes is hard. Final Fantasy III DS is a great game to travel around with. And Guitar Heroes (I and II) are still awesome. Oh, and my friend Ben from high school joins us now occasionally for BF2142! Good times.
