You'd think this entry would be about the Wii that I got over the weekend. Well, you'd only be half right!
Friday everyone in the house went, together, to see Casino Royale. Holy crap, is that a great Bond movie! Really puts into perspective how bad the last few were. I feel like it's better than just about every Bond film in recent years. While I really liked Goldeneye, this one definitely trumped that by leaps and bounds. It's just darker, more focused on the human espionage aspects and less focused on the tech toys. In fact, there were very few tech toys.
On the bad side, Bond's Aston Martin
V12 Vanquish only got to speed over a hill, flip over, and destroy itself. Such a beautiful car! :(
Saturday was spent with Rachel helping me get this asinine project back on track for work. So some work on Saturday. Oh well, gotta do whatcha gotta do. We finished the day with a $100 shopping spree for Thanksgiving groceries. I think we got everything, but we'll find out come Wednesday night!
Around 9PM that night, we headed out to the Vault, our favorite local bar. Good music, non-smoking, good drinks that aren't too expensive, There's a waitress there, her name may be Erin, who is just hilarious. Favorite quote of the night: "Oh good, everyone who does coke in our bathroom is here!" Followed immediately by two well dressed men entering the same, single toilet, bathroom. Either there was some gay lovin' happening in there, or the coke was flowing freely.
At 11, we left for the Lloyd mall. We got in, I traded in 7 older PS2 games that I will never play again (for $67 in trade value) and paid off the rest of my Wii pre-order. At midnight, they started calling people's numbers and handing out their orders! When we got home sometime around 12:30, I unboxed that sucker, set it all up, and Jesse and I played Marvel Ultimate Alliance until 3:30 in the AM. Suffice to say that the Wii FUCKING ROCKS! I'm having a great time with it.
Sunday, I woke up late and got some new Legend of Zelda time in. Also a really great game so far, though I haven't gotten very far into it. Rachel and I took a bottle of Chuck with us around 1:30 and drove way too far in the terrible weather, through jack-knifed semis and slick conditions, to visit two of my cousins and their significant others in Corvalis. We had only been planning on staying a couple hours for drinks, but Sarah and Shawn put together a huge Thanksgiving-esque meal for us! We ended up staying there from about 3:30 until 9.
It is the first time I have gotten to interact with those cousins as an adult. I think they are probably my favorite cousins on all sides - this just cemented it. We talked on all topics, nothing was off limits. Lots of personal sharing and life stuff, in addition to politics and just good times. I'm really glad that Rachel was able to get to know a bit more of my family! We're definitely not as tightly knit as hers. Anyway, Sarah and I pledged to actually get together more than once every three years. She's only 2 hours away by car! It's a little silly.
Played some more Marvel with Jesse again last night and noticed the GameStop insert to unlock the Silver Surfer. Which we did. And he is hilariously awesome. I rush in with Wolverine while Jesse blasts the fuck out of people with the Surfer. His lines are just silly and awesome. Ah, multiplayer gaming - it rocks.
Anyway, just an amazing weekend. So much good stuff.
Oh, and I got some of my pictures back!
Check them out!
