My week and a half of terrible, painful work hell is pretty much over. I'm glad I'm taking a week off next week, even though there will be a lot of work. It will be (hopefully!) a lot less stressful than this past week has been!
So we have a development environment that is supposed to mirror production so that you can work on code and assume that it will function the same in both places. So after getting everything up and running in dev, testing it over the weekend, and running a parallel test on Monday, I went to implement it in production. I found a mess.
The code was not the same. The differences in code had not been checked into source control. The environment seemed to be the same, but then after I recompiled the application it failed to run from the same working directory. What the fuck.
We had a blast at the beach last weekend and had an equally fun time hanging out with my mom and family the past couple days. I even got to play a bit of my usual Tuesday night game, after we played some Chrononauts! Rachel ended up rearranging the timeline to her victory!
We're off to Ohio next week - coming into Cleveland Saturday morning early, leaving Sunday morning early to go to Cincinnati. So much Ohioness.
Good times.
