Need more money to put where my mouth is...
I finally put some of my money where my mouth is and gave $700 (company-matched, so $1400) to a nearby Montessori school in an underprivileged neighborhood.
But I want to give millions! It is so hard to remember to buy lotto tickets...and very very hard to win if I don't buy them. Of course, I know that gambling is "a tax on people that don't understand math" but I figure even serendipity needs *some* cooperation....
Talking to the school director, I discovered there are some things I don't know about poor people.
Apparently, the people most in need of help with Montessori school tuition are people that make just a little bit too much money to get full help from the state, but not enough to prosper on without help. So my plan to require that the money go towards a "full scholarship" would not have helped anybody. So I just designated the money for either tuition help or school enlargement (since they have a waiting list.)
Theory is so much easier than practice......at least for us nerds.
