We've been making wine!
One of our neighbors grows his own grapes. By some happy accident lots of vines grew/transplanted onto our property this year. Faced with the prospect of 100 square feet of grape vines, we came to the only logical conclusion: we would have to make our own wine.
Making wine is so easy!
All the equipment (glass carboy, airlock, tubing, yeast, etc) costs about $30, and is reusable (oh, well, yeast excepted, of course). Crush grapes. Add water. Add yeast. Let it hang out. BAM. WINE.
Now that we've got a dozen bottles hanging out in the pantry, we're trying out some new stuff. We have a gallon of apple/strawberry/peach still fermenting right now, and we just got some pumpkin to try for some pumpkin wine. None of this stuff will be ready until next year, but now that we have the process down, we keep experimenting.
It is also Hot Buttered Rum time. Butter, sugar, spices + Don Q? Yes please.
I may have been a barmaid in a previous life.
