Wedding - preparations

Aug 13, 2012 22:16

And... I'm back in Kassel for work _._

Wedding and honeymoon are over, but I'll try to write down as much as I can remember ^^;;

I finished work early in the afternoon, rushed to the train station to meet up with Vanny, had ice cream and was home around 5 PM.

We started packing a bit later and were finished maybe around 7 PM. And the car was full. Like really, really full with all the decorations, clothes and things :-)
A short stop at the petrol station, dinner at Subway's and then I called my mom around 8 PM to tell her that we were on our way.

About 20 minutes later we realised that we had forgotten our penlights at home, which we wanted to use for the wedding dance. Much DUH on our side, but we didn't want to go back home and get them.
Carsten posted about that on Facebook and ina offered to bring hers. Yeah! Problem solved :-)

We arrived some time after 10 PM at my parents place, had some small talk, noticed that Carsten had forgotten his white shirt and watched a bit of the Olympic games and off to bed we were.

I had planned to make a Green Tea cake for the wedding and had brought my little cup of matcha with me. On Thursday morning Carsten checked that cup and saw... a lot of emptiness -.-;;;
So we were white shirt-less and matcha-less in Schwerin. I needed my migrane-prevention-pills too, so our tour through the shops of Schwerin was: doctor, Asia shop and C&A.
Doctor and C&A were a success, the Asia shop wasn't. As we didn't trust the tea shops in Schwerin to carry matcha powder, we ordered it online with express from Amazon, but then tried our luck in a tea shop anyways and were SUCCESSFUL!!! Little Schwerin surprised me *g*

Around noon on Thursday we were back home and I started baking. The cake and cake-pops-something. The cake pops totally messed up our plans, which was due to some miscalculation on my part. I made at least twice as much as neccessary, which of course needed at least twice as long to prepare ;_;
Thanks to that we didn't have any time to prepare the list of Japanese songs for the wedding party ;____;

I think we went to bed some time around midnight?

Uhm... I think my brother helped me with the Green Tea cake in the morning?
But I'm sure I picked up my cousin from the train station at 11:50 AM :-)
dragon_soda was supposed to arrive 20 minutes later, but thanks to the Deutsche Bahn, she arrived an hour later than planned.
We all had lunch at my parents' place and then we drove to the Seeterrasse (= the location) and started decorating + checked in at the appartment where some guests stayed.

I kept going back and forth between the train station, my parents' place and the location that afternoon ^^;;;
Oh, and checking in at the hotel (Carsten and I) for the next two nights

In the late afternoon we went to the castle with some of our guests and actually managed to walk once around the castle, before the rain set in _._
Carsten and I kept checking the weather forecast for Saturday every 10 minutes or so on our phones. It could work, we kept saying, but there was still the dreaded rain for the afternoon...

I picked up the last guests from the train station around 9 PM and dropped them at the location.

While Carsten and I spent the late evening at my parents', waiting for our relatives who would stay there, we noticed that we had forgotten the wedding bubbles at the location.
We called the poor guests staying there, to make sure that they'd bring the bubbles with them the next morning.
Five minutes later I recalled my bridal bag, which was at the location too.
I absolutely needed that bag for my things the next day, so my dad drove us to the location, we picked up the wedding bubbles and my bridal bag and back to my parents it was.

A while later our families arrived and then my dad drove Carsten and I to our hotel - where we kind of looked like o.O when we entered the BIG! room. Much too big for the two shorts nights we stayed there ^^;;

We didn't sleep much that night, and when I woke up around 2 AM I remembered the special parking tickets we needed - which were in the location too _._

Our alarm was set for 6 AM. It was a bit dusky in the morning, but looked very much alright.
Shower and then my dad picked us up at 7 AM from the hotel for breakfast. I was getting nervous.
While I tried to eat more than one bread roll, my dad went to get The Car. A nice, big black Mercedes :-)

At 8 AM, clear blue skies, dad drove me, my dress and everything else to the hair stylist in the city. On the way there they played "Euphoria" on the radio. I'll keep that song close to my heart forever :-)
And I had a few happy tears in my eyes ^^;;;

At first it was really difficult for me to let go from all the organisation, because I couldn't do anything anymore while being at the hair stylist. The parking cards needed to get from the location to my parents, guests needed to get into the city and the flowers and and...
I was some kind of nervous wreck and my stomach agreed with me _._ The sparkling wine at the hair stylist helped a bit though ^^;;

The plan: Be in front of the town hall at 10:20 AM. Wedding starts at 10:30 AM.

My hair stylist kept saying that we would be finished in time and I tried to believe her, but then some church bells rang and I went "OMG! It's 10 o'clock already! My fringe isn't done yet and I'm not wearing make-up! AHHH!!!"
Hair stylist tried to console me that the bells rang already a few minutes before 10 AM and that we would make it. She then asked a colleague to help with the make-up ^^;;;
The fringe was a problem, but well....

Dad was there around 10:05 AM, we left the hair stylist at 10:17 AM and from there it was literally just a drive around the corner. We were in time. Yeah!
I had a nervous happy tear in my eyes, my dad too ^_~

And then I got out of the car and Carsten was standing there and I was still soooo nervous and tried my best not to ruin my make-up (only slightly successful there...)

More to come! ;-)
