The ground heaved.
It heaved, shuddered, bucked wildly. It rumbled as though under the feet of countless savage hordes, twisting and breaking. The surface of the sweeping plain split, cracked, crazed by jagged canyons. It bucked and buckled, forming and destroying hills and valleys as it went.
The ground stilled.
All was silent. Anything not killed had fled. The air crackled with the electricity of anticipation. Time itself seemed to have stopped.
The ground trembled.
The ground shattered.
She was free.
