A question about Special Relativity

I am wondering if any of my geeky friends can give me a solid explanation for why FTL speed must indicate time reversal in Special Relativity.

It just makes no sense to me, I suspect it is because of our flawed definition of Zero in mathematics, but perhaps there is more to it than that.
